Although it started about ten years ago, the Emo trend seems to be still riding the wave of popularity, and teens and youths from all over the world still identify with this cultural movement. More than other movements, Emo manifests itself a lot visually, and the followers recognize themselves by the way they dress, the way they style their hair and the way they wear makeup. Although here the boys wear almost as much makeup as the girls, they still have a lot more style tricks to complete their appearances. In what follows we are going to see some Emo hair color ideas for the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.
For those who aren’t very familiar with this concept, Emo hair is characterized by exaggerated hairstyles, unnatural and striking hair colors and a lot of accessories. The “classical” – if one could call it that – haircut for this style is much more voluminous on top and shadowed towards the tips; bangs are an almost habitual element in Emo hairstyles, and they usually cover one eye. As for Emo hair color ideas, even though this movement is separated from mainstream fashion, it still receives some influences. For example, many Emo girls nowadays sport pixie or bob variations, but what makes them unique are the bold colors like blue, purple, pink or green, as well as other exaggerated features of said hairstyle.
In the photos we chose for this article you can observe some of the trends for Emo hair color ideas. Although this is teen fashion, you can clearly see there was a lot of thought put in creating these hairstyles. Just like before, the most common hair color is black, which becomes the perfect setting for adding other colors to the hair. In one of the pictures, the girl opted for some pink highlights which would be common enough for her unless she added those leopard motifs in black. She combined those with purple highlights and accessorized with a black ribbon with skulls printed.
In the first picture, there is a similar animal motif in the zebra-like pattern that the model opted for. A few pink stripes and highlights were also added, and she went for a lot of volume. Since we’re on the subject, you can’t become Emo unless you invest some in hair products, especially hair spray. Finally, in the third picture, we see an interesting attempt at a more “toxic” hairstyle. The bright pink an green highlights and the choppy haircut are characteristic for Emo followers. Finally, you need to know that this style is all about pushing the limits of fashion; there is basically a freedom in what colors and cuts you choose, and the more daring and tacky you are, the more successful your style will be.
